Salim Baig is a film actor who has worked in Tamil and Telugu film industry and is mainly known for his collective work with a famed director Gautham Menon. He played a negative role in police dramas “Gharshana” which was released in 2004. While he appeared in “Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu” which was released in 2006. However, he has worked in several movies and many popular filmmakers approached him to cast in their film projects.

Career

Saleem Baig was born, raised, and grew up in Mumbai, India where he completed his studies and started his career in the film and media industry. Initially, he worked as a model, and later, he worked as a theatre artist.

Also, he took part in the Mr. Junior Mumbai Competition, and just after that, he got a call from a famed director Teja who wanted to cast him in his film project which was a Tamil action movie “Jai”. It was released in 2004 and received positive feedback.

Later, Ravi Varman (Film’s Cinematographer) introduced him to Gautham Menon (director) and he cast him in the police drama “Gharshana” in 2004. He became popular for the role and got immense love and recognition for his performance. Since then, he was recognized by his stage name as Panda.

Since he became famous, he frequently started appearing in big-budget Telugu movies, such as; “Andarivaadu” released in 2005, which was directed by Chiranjeevi. Also, he worked in the movie “Jagapati” which was released in 2005.

Alongside this, he appeared in another venture “Andhrudu” (2005). Later, Gautham Menon featured him in a police drama “Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu” in 2006 for which he got acclaimed. In the film, he worked alongside the veteran actor, Kamal Hassan who played a lead role. However, the movie got critical acclaim and became commercially successful.
