Ramesh was only 12 years old, when he made his first acting debut as a child star with the movie titled Manushulu Chesina Dongalu. At his 14 years of age, he was featured in Dasari Narayana Rao directed movie titled Needa wherein he portrayed a leading role. More significantly, his younger brother named Mahesh Babu was also the prominent part of star cast for the movie titled Needa who was only 4 years old at that time. In the year 1987, he moved back into movie through V. Madhusudhan Rao directed movie titled Samraat in a male leading role.
Renowned actress Sonam Bajwa had coupled in the film together with the main leading roles of the movie titled “Sharada and Ramesh Babu.” In 1988, he starred in his father directed movies like Kaliyuga Karnudu and Mugguru Kodukulu. His first commercially megahit movie was Bazaar Rowdy released in the year 1988, from this movie he rose to utmost fame and also earned a star tag overnight. From the years 1989 to 1997, Ramesh Babu was appeared in the movies such as Kaliyuga Abhimanyudu, Black Tiger, Encounter-1997 and Mama Kodalu. For the year 1989, he portrayed a dual role in the film titled Krishna Gaari Abbayi. The main directors in his career those noticed his talent and used to feature in their movies for becoming a megastar was V. Madhusudhan Rao, Dasari Narayana Rao, K. S. R. Das and Krishna Ghattamaneni. In the year 1997, Ramesh Babu declared his retirement from the movies and moved ahead to initiate his career as a film producer.
As a filmmaker, he made his first debut as an associate producer from the movie titled Sooryavansham. It was a megahit movie at Indian box office. Furthermore, his second winning as a film producer was a wonderful start. In the subsequent time, Ramesh Babu produced a number of Telugu movies like Athidhi, Arjun, Aagadu, and Dookudu.
Ramesh Babu was born to Indira Devi and actor Krishna. He has four siblings comprising off Manjula Ghattamaneni and Mahesh Babu. He tied the knot with Mrudula Ghattamaneni and the couple was blessed with two children named Jaya Krishna Ghattamaneni and Bharathi Ghattamaneni.
